Well, try calling them, explaining, then if that doesn't work, ask for a manager.

Edit: Shipping back to them, you obviously have to pay for. But seeing as it is a manufacture problem, and it's still under their satisfaction guarantee, I don't see why it wouldn't be fair for them to pay shipping to you.
