I'm about 1-2 month later, but I finally compaired VM linux folding VS native linux folding:
(cpu is 2600k @ 4600mhz with 4gb 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 ram)
P6901
in VM, 23:13 tpf 55053 ppd
native linux, 22:24 tpf 58091 ppd
So nice 5% boost! perfect for rigs without gpu folding.
Oh and BTW I used the native folding image V1.3 on linuxforge.net and it's pretty easy to setup. Just burn the iso to a CD, boot the computer with the cd drive seet to boot first and follow the instructions (in fact just have to enter a command and confirm it) It will erase the first 3.6 gb of the hard drive BTW. When it's done, reboot and it boot like the way it boot with the folding image in VMware. In less than 15 minutes, it's ready to fold.
