Default MY questions about SLI GTX570 or CFX HD6950

I would like to know if the famous "stuttering" is gone with today's multi-GPU configurations?

Also, is using two cards will likely increase minimum FPS in most games, or it just affects max FPS?

Thx! I'm still hesitating...there is such great reviews of HD6950 CFX, it's almost too good to be true. Same to be said of the GTX570s in SLI...

I'm looking for a little overkill on a single monitor at 1080P (my single HD5870 would probably be fine already...! If it's not valid points, I'll settle for GTX580 or HD6970 I guess

There is got to be some HUGE HYPE or something, because dual card reviews are awesome, but AMD/ATI forum has a lot of people with issues, with minimal support from AMD...
