I'm running good ol' XP on my Sandy Bridge rig without any problems whatsoever... Only caveat is that you need to have SP3 on your install disc or the installation routine will not recognize sata hardrives. You can easily slipstream sp3 onto a new install disc if yours doesn't have it.
