I'm on my second brother inkjet MFC (first one lasted 5 years) and strongly recommend them. The only real issue for the inkjet models is the fact that they won't run at all if any of the ink carts is empty.

As far as cheap laser printers go.... I'm kinda partial to the cheap duplex/networked samsungs. Toners are decently priced, and there really aren't any other duplex laser printers in the aprox. $100 price range.

Unfortunately the cheap samsungs wouldn't meet any of your other requirements, but since you already have the HP, you could use that for your scanner if you really wanted to. (Not sure what the pricing on samsung MFPs is like).
