Thanks for all the help and the thoughts. As is usually the case with me it was user error.

Helpful tip! When adding standoffs for a motherboard, count the number of standoffs, then count the number of screws you tighten. Sometimes you might be missing a standoff that is hiding underneath the southbridge and is only shorting the board when you finally tighten everything down and put the video card in which just happens to be directly over said southbridge.

The More You Know!

Don't trust the case either. It told me I needed every standoff for Micro ATX. Silly motherboard!

Now to learn how to overclock!
