Unfortunately I don't have the stock temps since my 6400+ was a Black Edition which has no stock cooler. I did get a 2C drop when I changed the TIM from dot to spread method. I'd find it difficult to believe that this beast didn't do a much better job, in fact it has been argued that it has 12 heatpipes and not the modest 6 that scythe states, I guess they are counting the U as 1.
If you want to push and overclock though I haven't been that successful with this HS, I hit 62C and I didn't like it, I may be trying to push my Procs into watercooling territory though... I understand that 3.5Ghz is at the limit of the 6400+
