Yup, any of the passive ones seem to be hit and miss too. I bought one for $20 while waiting for my active DVI and it worked, but the screen would go black for a few seconds somewhat frequently.

Passive VGA works for sure, but I wouldn't go with it. I suppose it could be a temporary solution until cheap active ones are out.
