Graphite powder IS conductive, so even though it works, and you havent had any issues, I would still be cautious at best (I personally would look for a non-conductive alternative).

Also, wiping down the heatsink blades with an oil soaked q-tip would just lead to a dirtier heatsink sooner, as oils soaks up dust like a magnet, clean the blades with isopropyl if anything.

Otherwise, a interesting result and it seems to work fine, but YMMV...
