HTC desire is the current GSM goodness.
However I'm gonna agree with Zero as there are MANY MANY new android phones coming out, including the Desire HD, Tmobile G2, Samsung Galaxy U..etc etc.
If you can live with telus, you should definitely check out the EVO 4G or Droid Incredible. Also upcoming HTC Glacier looks good as well
