Guys...dont WORRY about proper alignment and software hassle. It takes about 10 seconds to do via the cmd line.

If you are using XP go to C:\ in a cmd prompt
Type in Diskpar -s -NNNN (where NNNN is the drive number. IF you dont know use diskmgr and take note of it)
keep hitting Y until is asks for offset.
Type in 2048 (or any 4k divisible number, this is win 7 default number so I use it)
Close the CMD window.
Do a QUICK format on the drive.

DONE. No need to screw around with software programs.
