The original paste I got on my Accelero S1 v.2 seems to be of good quality. I missed the first install too on my 2600XT. (I forgot to put the 4 little white washers between the board and the heatsink.) I did not change or clean the original thermal paste that came on the heatsink when I put it back in place and here are the results:

idle : 40c
load : 45c

I think you can use the stock thermal paste. I don't see the point in changing it to maybe lower the temps by 2-3 degrees unless you want to overclock like crazy
