I've used it on very thin aluminum cases and as long as you support the weight with your hands, you'll be Ok.
Speaking of big tools, I took some shots of My
Grizzly G0580 14" Bandsaw 3/4 HP... I've owned it for 4 years without any problems. You can use 1/8" x .025 bi-metal blade for cutting acrylic and metal sheets. I usually cut 1/8" thick sheets.
