I beat portal on OSX without any problems on the recommended settings (2.8ghz MBP late 2009). I never tried it Boot Camp but a lot of people were complaining about framerate which was apparently fixed in the latest patch. People are saying Portal in OSX runs better now than it does in Boot Camp.
Never tested it out myself since I'm sick of Portal now
What REALLY needs to be fixed is Starcraft 2.
