your choice will be base on the kind of OC you want to achieve,
because if you Oc , you will probably disable the HT , if you go with air cooling I will say to get a 750. And if you plan to WC, you will be good with a 920 too, the 920 produce a lot more heat, for gaming the 750 have a little bit advantage on the bench, you will not notice it in real life, just to say that a 920 is not faster for gaming.
anyone can achive a good 4,0 ghz OC with a 750 and good temps with anything like a 212+ cooler or better , it will be real hot for a 920 at 4,0 ghz with only a 212+
if you want to improve performance and keep your SSD a longer time, you need to disable the page files, for do so you need 6 gb minimum, it's too risky at 4 gb, your pc will crash if it reach the maximum of ram need, with a 1156 it means 8 gb if you want to keep your dual channel. my personal feeling.... get your rampage II gene, I have one I'm building an xtreme WC with it, and a i7-965 . it's a DAM good board. look in few minute I start my work log on it |
I have to agree. As tempting as the i5's seem, I really want the GENE. That board and the ability to use the next chip makes i7 a better choice me thinks.
