A 550W should be able to handle a 5850. However, I'd say wait until Fermi releases. You *may* be able to run a 4xx card (if you can afford one) but if not there's an expected ATI price drop on Nvidia's release. It's not a long wait either, only a couple of weeks. You may not get as much for a 260 when Fermi releases, but the difference will likely be less than ATI's drop, not to mention the depreciation probably won't be that high since most people won't be able to afford Fermi anyway.
