Didn't have a powered sub before so it's difficult to compare.
It packs quite the punch though, especially once you get the volume up there. Definitely feel it through your body. I think it's one of the cheapest 10" subs around without sales. And it's downfiring too which I believe gives more omnidirectional bass.
