The crystal ball says that I don't see a major increase in availability before December. At the earliest.

I am sure NVIDIA is kicking themselves in the butt right now because this would be a perfect situation where they could take some major market share away from AMD if they only had a card ready.

Methinks it is a BIOS lock on the card since we have a VERY early sample but Sapphire isn't being forthcoming with answers. It could just be a freak.

However, the card was running all night last night in an effort to find some kind of instability at stock clocks which resultsed in no failures or artifacts. I'll do the same tonight and report back.
