Good: fast reads, fast writes, low power draw, high MTBF, high data security, high shock resistance, fast seek times, smaller formfactors.
Bad: price per terabyte, bottlenecked by some motherboards.

Upgrading from HDDs to SSDs is probably the cheapest way to achieve a noticeable performance improvement on any system. Once you make the switch, you'll never go back. Bootups and shutdowns are much faster and applications flash open.
