You'd probably have to re-install anyways, because your laptop has different chipset drivers than your X58. It's not impossible to workaround in XP or Vista (boot to safe mode on old system, delete drivers, move drive to new system, boot), but I've never tried it on a Windows 7 install, and for the 20 minutes it takes to install 7 on a HDD, it's probably not worth your time.
