all P55 and X58 chipsets can run both CrossFire and SLI...check that, most can. some manufacturer's aren't licensing some boards to run SLI. all Intel chipsets up to this point have physically been able to run both...NVIDIA simply wouldn't license non-NVIDIA chipsets to run SLI previously, that is all. there is nothing special in these newer chipsets allowing both, they simply don't have instruction sets preventing it like previous ones. performance is going to be as good on any SLI or Crossfire chipset so it isn't like you are getting a castrated version. the ability to run SLI Crossfire all comes down to drivers, hence why some recently have shown hacked drivers allowing SLI on X48 chipsets...still not released but apparently do-able.
