These sticks look nice, although I seriously can't see myself needing 12GB before my motherboard's obsolete.

It just means that there's more memory on each stick. So far, 2GB/stick has been the most available for most memory (outside of more specialized, expensive stuff). These sticks have 4GB/stick, so you can fit more memory in a given number of slots. Beyond that, not much difference.
