Have you "slimmed" your itunes install? I am thinking it is something that came packaged with itunes that is connecting to apple online and looking for updates.

Go into your Win control panel and uninstall Apple updater, bonjour and anything else Apple that isn't just itunes.
Check your services.msc for more Apple crap like "Apple mobile device support". This is only used for iPhones.

See if that helps.
