Yea I thought about new drives. However if you looked at my worklog you will noticed I designed my case for the optical drives I already have. bit of a design flaw but oh well. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it's not my HDD then it shouldn't be to much of an issue. Besides... you can buy newer models off ebay for $3 US... So in the end if it turns out to be crap then I haven;t lost a whole lot and I can still grab a longer IDE which would have a chance of performance issues. This converter is supposed to work perfectly without issues from the bios and it does allow 1.5gbs. At least from what I have read. extra power plug on them as well to give additional signal boost.
