The adobe workers are pretty good over the phone for overriding the re-activation process on the old workstation; (i had to do a re-load once after a PC crash) but who's to say that the person you are buying from wont pull some kinda bait-and-switch on you down the road.
I would probably steer clear too. THe only second-hand software i feel comfortable buying is from a company who is liquidating all of it's assets.
