The X-fi Xtreme audio is a software based card. It has no hardware acceleration. Most people looking for a gaming card will want a card with a dedicated DSP chip. Such as the Audigy 2 or X-fi X-Gamer.
I suggest saving your cash and getting a X-fi extreme Gamer.
