Ok I think you're stating to lose me a bit with all the standards... The HTPC as it stands right now is an E3110 on a Asus P5E-VM HDMI with 2GB PC6400. I was going to use the on-board video since I won't be gaming. For audio I'm planning to take an optical over to my HK AVR-235 and use it's DAC. I will only be using 5.1.

I bought that mobo because the manufacturer, as well as several reviewers claims that it can do 1080p with ease and is the best mobo for HTPC use (back when). So from what I understand what you're saying, if I buy the BD drive and buy the software I still may not be able to play BD properly?!
