Yes it is a very good idea to check your RAM before doing anything ! :)

For your HDD you can use the tools that come with your drives, for seagate, seatools for example and run the long tests, which checks every sector on your HDD. For CPU you can use Prime95 or a CPU burnin tool that runs all your core 100% to test for stability and heat - I also like to use GPUCaps and Fur Testing with all settings maxed out, that loads your GPU - and of course gaming - you WILL know if your videocard is defective don't worry :)
